By doubling the image, it changes the scale factor to 2, the perimeter is 2 times the original, and the are is doubled. By trippiling it the scale factor is 3, if the perimeter is 1 by 1, the area is 4 if doubled it would be 12. Therefore, the area of a 1 by 1 polygon would be 1, if it is doubled it is 4, if tripled it is 9.
