American Revolution Summary

I learned a lot about the war weapons and war strategies. I learned the linear tactic and I also a lot about the muskets and the other weapons they used in the Revolutionary War. I enjoyed learning about the battles and the important things in the American Revolution and the weapons and tactics they used. Also what it takes to start the war like the cost of the war and the casualties and who had more soldiers and cannons. I also learned a lot of patriots of the American Revolution and what they did. Overall I really enjoyed learning about the American Revolution. It was a great learning experience.

Amendment Nine Acrostic Poem

Amendment nine states that there are other rights that may exist aside from the ones explicitly mentioned.

Made by James Madison.

Explicit (fully and clearly expressed or demonstrated)

Ninth Amendment had been mentioned infrequently in decisions of the Supreme Court.

Delegates favored an authoritarian central government ; others retention of the state sovereignty ; and most occupied positions in the middle of the two extremes.

Madison was concerned that enumerating various rights could “enlarge the powers delegated by the constitution.

Exceptions here or elsewhere in the Constitution made in favor of particular rights.

New York is where Madison was serving in the Continental Congress

The nature of the political rights reserved to the people by the ninth and tenth amendments.

Ninth amendment does not confer substantive rights in addition to those conferred by other portions of our governing law.

It has been said, by way of objection to a bill of rights…. that in the Federal Government they are unnecessary.

Ninth Amendment has generally been regarded by the courts as negating any expansion of government power on account of the enumeration of rights in the Constitution.

Eight amendments address the means by which the federal government exercises its enumerating powers.

American Flag

I believe that Francis Hopkinson created the nation’s first flag. Why I believe that Francis Hopkinson  created the flag is because he had the receipts to prove it. While the proof that Betsy Ross made the flag is just a story that is told very often. So in my opinion Francis Hopkinson has more evidence that he created the flag. That is why I believe that Francis Hopkinson created the nation’s first flag.

Colonial Life

Today was a hard day. I had to start building a ship and the ship has to be ready by next year. The purpose of the ship is for the colonists to be able to trade. Today I was drawing a model. Tomorrow I will start building the keel. Everything has to be perfect to create the hull. Lives depend on how I build the ship and if I mess up the ship would not be safe and if colonists set sail on the ship they might drown. Also the colonists will not be able to trade. There is a lot of pressure on me. The next days are going to be difficult.

Jamestown or Plymouth

I would rather live in Plymouth because they did not want to honor any British monarch like how Jamestown named their settlement for King James 1. Also because the Pilgrims were seeking freedom to worship while Jamestown settlers were looking for gold. Another reason why I would rather live in Plymouth is because Plymouth grew in 1630 because Puritans came to the Massachusetts Bay. With more people it will be more easy to live. Although Jamestown and Plymouth both suffered in their first few years I would rather live in Plymouth.
